Food Drive Collection Resources

There are two options for collecting your food drive donations. What you use will depend the amount of food you collect and your ability to transport the collected items.

Most convenient are our small Food Drive Boxes. We also offer Tall Food Drive Boxes, but once they are full they can weigh up to 150 pounds and they will require special equipment to move them. You will need a commercial van, pick-up truck or something larger to transport them to the food bank or one of our participating community partners.

Small Food Drive Boxes

• Boxes measure 16” L x 13” W x 11” H
• Boxes filled with all canned food weigh approximately 45 – 50 pounds
• Mixed non-perishable items – canned and dry packaged food - typically weigh 30 – 35 pounds
• Boxes filled with all dry packaged food weigh about 18 – 20 pounds

Tall Food Drive Boxes

• Tall Food Drive boxes are 16” L x 16” W x 30” H
• Each box holds 100 – 150 pounds when full
• Boxes are too tall to fit into passenger cars and SUVs when upright
• A sturdy hand truck is the best way to move a full barrel, but since these have hand holds, can be moved by hand
• Full tall boxes will need to be transported in a commercial van or pick-up truck
• If you want to use tall boxes and don't have a truck, we suggest transferring food into our small boxes for transport
• You may also use your own boxes or sturdy grocery bags to collect and deliver food.
